"Gaia" - 35x50cms

Oil on cotton canvas

"Creativity is a crushing core and a glorious mystery. The work wants to be made, and it wants to be made through you."
-Elizabeth Gilbert

This quote showed up in my Instagram feed after I had painted Gaia. I then came to the realization that Gaia, along with the previous deities I had painted (Daphne and Psyche) chose me *bows down* to illustrate them, bringing them back a sense of their old glory through my brushes. I had strongly felt this through the process of painting. With each brush stroke, with each of the long moments spent in front of my easel, working their features and silhouettes, these deities had been consuming my efforts, time, energy and bits of my life to appear on those canvas.
